UEA announces 9000 pound fees.
As a Students’ Union we support free education. We believe that education is a right, not a privilege and we have repeatedly acted on this principle through our organisation of debates and participation in demonstrations this last year.
Unfortunately universities have been burdened by government policies which mean that they have to charge above the current fee setting to simply continue the standards they are currently offering.
Whilst the Union is disappointed the University has had to increase the fee level we have been in consultation with staff to ensure that the university is doing everything it can to improve the student experience as well as guarantee its widening participation work, to make sure that certain groups of students are not put off coming to the University of East Anglia.
Tom Dolton, Communications Officer said;
“Whilst we reiterate our stance on free education, we are confident that the targets and processes the University has put in place will ensure the continuing improvement of the student experience of UEA students. We plan to continue working with the University to ensure that there will be continual commitment to working to improve widening participation of students applying to the University.”
